Put Back Pain
Behind You

Dr.Skaribas & Nobilis Health

Solving the Back Pain Puzzle*

Some of the most frustrated patients out there suffer from chronic back pain. Whatever the underlying condition, ususally failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS), all too often doctors simply treat the symptoms with meds and send their patients home to continue the struggle.

Dr. Skaribas, partnered with Nobilis Health in Houston, Texas, offers a different approach. Their more comprehensive, longer-term solution of spinal cord stimulation has an extremely high success rates for patients suffering from chronic back pain. especially for patients experiencing chronic numbness, burning and/or tingling.*

Spinal Cord Stimulation

Putting Patients in Control

This innovative, breakthrough procedure is performed at Nobilis Health, a top-of-the-line facility where patients are more than a name on a prescription pad.

With Spinal Cord Stimulation, a small neurostimulator is implanted, similar to a pacemaker, which emits a mild electric current disrupting pain signals to the brain. SCS is minimally invasive and most patients quickly return to a more active daily routine in the absence of pain.*

With Spinal Cord Stimulation, patients are in the driver’s seat: the SCS remote allow users to turn the system on or off, and to finesse the level of electrical stimulation to meet their particular needs and preferences.* As always, Nobiis staff will be on hand to offer advice or instruction.

Proven Back Pain Relief*

Resulting from Decades of Research

A theory from the 1960s actually led to the development of cutting-edge treatments such as Spinal Cord Stimulation. Mounting evidence over the years has supported the hypothesis that nerves are capable of carrying two signals at once. With SCS, a neural message of pain on its way to the brain is overtaken and canceled out by a competing message, a mild electric current from a neurostimulator implanted in the patient’s spine.*

While Spinal Cord Stimulation may not work for everyone, it’s the solution for about two-thirds of patients with this type of chronic pain.* The procedure is reversible and considered quite safe. Spinal Cord Stimulation is an FDA approved procedure for chronic intractable pain of the torso and has been performed on more than 140,000 patients worldwide.*

“I can hardy believe
how good I feel only 2 weeks after the St. Jude Burst Stimulator was implanted. After 20+ years of therapy, surgery and drugs finally I have relief! Can’t wait for next winter when I’ll be able to snowmobile again! Thank you Doc.
You’re the best.”

The Trial Run

Making Sure Spinal Cord Stimulation
Is Right For You

A trial run is standard protocol to make certain that SCS is going to be an effective solution for the patient. The device’s temporary lead is fluoroscopically positioned just as it would be for a permanent implant, but is connected to an external generator usually worn on a belt. For the next several days, the patient engages in a variety of physical activities to test how well SCS works whenever he or she experiences pain upon exertion.

Only after the doctor discusses the results carefully with a patient can he make a decision whether to proceed with permanent implantation.*

Those whose pain is improved by at least half during the trial run are good candidates for a permanent SCS device. The final procedure is minimally invasive and most patients return to a normal routine within 24 hours. *
